Taleah Montanez |
I am honored to share that your generous donations will contribute to a new initiative and special scholarship:
Taleah’s “Extraordinary Light of Mine” Scholarship. This scholarship was created to honor the memory of the late 19-year-old Taleah Montanez. This extraordinary young woman impacted our lives in such a short period of time. Taleah was a part of our Girl Talk 2019 Speaker’s Panel. She demonstrated great determination in sharing her personal journey with mental health struggles including her battle with a food disorder. Taleah was not originally booked to participate in our speaker’s panel. However, she approached me and shared why she was so driven to share her story. Her story was one of personal courage and community leadership; as she sought ways on how she can make a positive change in her community. I can say with full confidence that I am glad that space was created for her during our event, because a few weeks later Taleah passed away in a tragic car accident. This scholarship embodies her personal light and spirit, and we want to honor her by creating a legacy of hope, resilience, and community leadership. We look forward, with your help and support, to expand our efforts this year by reaching over 200 youth girls across the community and beyond. We thank you in advance. Feel free to contact me directly via email at: xchangeacademy@gmail.com. With Warm Regards, Andrea Taylor |
Over the past five years we have been a staple for the teenage youth girls and women in our community and in the surrounding communities. The annual Girl Talk event has welcomed over 900 young ladies. The goal behind the program is to bridge the gap between the more seasoned women and young women.
Over the past five years we have discussed major topics such as sex trafficking, mental health, bullying, and self confidence. Our goal is to bring more awareness to what we are doing in our community and resources to better service people through our event. We have created this fund raiser to raise money to help fund Girl Talk. Our goal is to raise $15,000 in which we have already raised $2,500. Your donations will help venue rentals, food, marketing and advertisement. We are seeking sponsors and donations, to provide resources for this event. If you would like to join this community movement, donate a tax deductible monetary gift or give away item, please contact us.
